Supporting Statement King's College London Summer School 2013
My name is Purwoko Haryadi. I am Indonesian. I am a
two-year-university student. My study program is Physics Education in
Yogyakarta State University (YSU). I choose this study program because I want
to be a teacher since I was child, whether I become a
teacher or lecturer. In essence, both are equally to be a teacher. I want
to be a teacher because the teacher is a noble job. He taught his knowledge to
learners of unsung learners. He willingly educate learners.
Obviously I wanted to be a teacher in the field of
science that I like. I really liked physics since I was in junior high school. The
first time I know physics when I taught concept of unit and quantities in
Science of Junior High School. And from that moment I knew and started loving
physics. In addition, I think physics is the science of the future. Because of
the physics and all his abstract it, we can look how that will happen in the
future. Therefore I want to become a physics teacher.
In physics, there are three areas of learning that
must be mastered by a teacher that is theoretical physics, experimental
physics, and computational physics. For the first two competencies I feel that
I am learning in my college experience, now it is sufficient to provide
facilities to me so that I could master the future of this second. But to learn
about computational physics, I am still not feel full facilities on my campus.
Therefore, my skills in computational physics is still very inadequate.
To be a good teacher then a professional teacher
should try to increase the capacity of himself if he feels there are some
competencies that he has not mastered. An
Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Robot Shaping is two
courses which I choose. I chose it because it relates to computational physics.
In this lecture I expected to learn programming languages so that I can apply
computing in physics, especially in the field of robotics. Because robotics is also inseparable from the
fields of physics.
In addition, the physics is the science of the future.
If I follow my two college is expected to make interactive media learning
physics with this robot. Instructional media in Indonesia is still lacking
experimental media. So I plan to make this robot is applied to experiments for
students. Barriers are usually hard to find a laboratory that can always be in
the laboratory so that students conduct experiments when cold just in time
learning and teaching course. With the robot, I want to make a laboratory robot
that can standby every hour, so they can always be ready to serve the students
who want to conduct experiments.
Thus by attending summer school, many benefits will I
earn. Among them is improving my competence in computational physics and
robotics as well as stimulate me to make the learning technologies that make
physics more fun. The hope, of physics no longer regarded as a difficult
subject for students.
